Returning to the Past:
A Journey of Healing, Growth & Rediscovery
It’s a strange and sacred feeling—returning to the place that once held your pain.
In her recent trip to Henderson, Nevada, Annaka shares an emotional moment as she revisits the small apartment where her story once began. It’s a place that holds echoes of struggle, sleepless nights, and quiet perseverance. But this time, she stands there transformed—no longer surviving, but thriving.
“I actually struggled so much back in the day here. It’s kind of emotional—it’s kind of weird, actually.”
Honoring the Journey, Not the Pain
There’s power in returning—not to relive the past, but to witness your evolution.
The walls that once heard your fears now mirror your strength. The streets that once felt heavy now lead you back to gratitude.
As Annaka walks through her old neighborhood with her daughters, memories resurface. She points to the apartment where everything began—where she faced illness, exhaustion, and uncertainty.
“I was in survival mode back in the day, big time. It’s great to go back to places we used to be and the state we used to be in at the time.”
Back then, life was all about getting through each day.
Today, she stands in reflection, seeing the distance between who she was and who she’s become.
“I’m in a place right now in my life where things are doing really well. It’s crazy to look back and remember how it used to be.”
Healing Isn’t About Erasing the Past
Healing isn’t about pretending those hard seasons never happened.
It’s about integrating them—about remembering the version of you that kept going when it didn’t make sense to.
Annaka recalls getting sick from the mold in her old apartment, and how it affected her and her children. What once was a painful memory now stands as a chapter in her transformation.
“We had mold in there, and I got sick. That’s probably why today I have a hard time with gluten. It messed up my intestines big time… not only me, my kids got sick too.”
Even through those moments, she kept rebuilding—piece by piece, breath by breath. And today, standing under the Nevada sun, she sees those years for what they truly were: a foundation for who she is now.
From Survival to Purpose
Sometimes, growth doesn’t look glamorous. It looks like making it through one more day. It looks like trusting that where you are now isn’t where you’ll always be.
“It’s great to see how much we’ve evolved. I’ll share more things with you guys, because I’m going to be here for another few days… it’s just great to go back and realize where I used to be.”
This trip wasn’t about nostalgia—it was about acknowledgment. It was about honoring every version of herself that existed along the way.
“A lot of memories… and I’m tired, I’ve only had four hours of sleep. But it’s worth it, because being back here, seeing it again—it just shows how far I’ve come.”
The Taylered Lesson
You can’t truly see your growth until you revisit where you began.
The past isn’t there to pull you backward—it’s there to remind you of your strength, your resilience, and your evolution.
“It’s just to let you know how much we evolved. And it’s great to go back to the places we used to be in—the state we used to be in at the time.”
Take a moment to reflect on your own journey.
Honor it. Bless it.
And let it remind you of how far you’ve come.
